The Cardiff Caledonian Society
Formed in 1886 this Registered Charity offers education awards and assistance to local residents of Scottish descent.
A wide range of social events take place throughout the year and members of the society take part in formal dinner and dances at Burn's Nicht and St. Andrew's as well as Skittles, Country meals, quiz nights and local trips.
Scottish country dancing is well catered for, for the beginner right through to the experienced. In fact dancing takes place in south Wales every week night of the winter!
Conor Farmer, the President for 2004 - 2005 follows in the footsteps of many extremely able and dedicated Scots. This has been a very eventful and entertaining year of office for Conor who has organised Theatre trips, Cruises and many other enjoyable events.
The photograph shows Conor receiving a framed musical composition called Conor's Ceilidh. This was devised by Fiona Morgan and the musical arrangement was by the well known and hugely respected 'Squeezy Piano' man, Phill Jones (www.squeezypiano.co.uk).
This Year's President, Gordon Hayburn, has a full program events for the year not just dancing. He has arranged an evening chocolate making, a Visit to the opera, Carmen, and evening of music with Chloe Cook.
